Much like Storm Claudia swept through the north-west the night before, Manchester City overwhelmed Manchester United aside at the Etihad. It was a convincing three goal win for Andrée Jeglertz’s side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that clearly signaled their championship potential as they consolidated their place at the league summit.

Back-to-Back Setbacks for Manchester United

This scoreline signalled back-to-back league losses for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since last May, leaving them a sizable gap off the league leaders with their championship aspirations hanging by a thread.

The Red Devils' capacity to manage league and continental soccer with a thin team has been a frequently analyzed subject since they secured entry to the European competition.
