The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a major film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
