The thrilling 11-inning contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51M viewers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

The Saturday epic contest averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It additionally is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase over the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game recorded over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The entire seven-game series recorded 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the total American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and the network’s strongest postseason performance after 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen various tongues.
